The position is full-time with 40 hours per week for a limited period of 36 months, with the option of extension. Part-time employment is generally possible.

Your activity:

As part of the Joint Lab with the Leibniz Institute IHP, you will develop quantum optical circuits and photonic devices for novel integrated quantum systems.
Your field of activity includes

  •     quantum optical sensor technology: development of the theoretical foundations and understanding of methods
  •     Design of quantum optical circuits and creation of chip layouts for silicon-based platforms
  •     Simulation of photonic components (waveguides, beam splitters, modulators)
  •     for the optimization of component performance
  •     Implementation and supervision of laboratory experiments, in particular
  •     Characterization and measurements of integrated quantum optics components
  •     Supporting process development in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute IHP
  •     Scientific publications and presentations at conferences
  •     Possibility of a doctorate in cooperation with a university

Your profile:

  •  Master's degree in physics, electrical engineering, photonics or a related field
        Experience in at least one of the following areas:
    o quantum optical interferometry
    o photonic design (e.g. using KLayout)
    o Simulation of quantum optical devices (e.g. using Lumerical, COMSOL
    Multiphysics) o Semiconductor technology and clean room processes
    o Experimental optics and quantum optics
    o Programming skills in Python, MATLAB or similar languages are an advantage
  •     Independent and team-oriented way of working
  •     Very good knowledge of MS Office
  •     Very good verbal and written communication and
  •     German language as well as good English language skills
  •     written and spoken English language skills
