Was für zwei Tage!
Erst BarBQ, dann Photonics Days!
Oktober 2027! Wir sehen uns beid en Photonics Days!

Photonics Days 2026: Over 500 Participants, Lots of Photonics and Countless New Connections!
Two days full of exciting conversations, innovative ideas and international exchange: Photonics Days 2026 once again brought the international photonics community together in Berlin-Adlershof.
What an amazing two days! On 7 and 8 October, more than 500 participants from 23 countries came together for Photonics Days 2026 in Berlin-Adlershof. Companies, startups, universities and research institutes joined us to discuss the latest developments, make new connections and explore opportunities for future collaborations.
For us at OpTecBB, that’s what makes Photonics Days so special: reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new people and shaping the future of photonics together.
International Exchange from the Very Beginning
We were honoured to open the event with Dr. Kolja Haberland from LayTec AG, Board Member of OpTecBB, and Adrian Mahlkow, Managing Director of OpTecBB. We were also delighted to welcome Dr. Klement Ruey-sheng Gu, Representative of Taiwan, and Mr. Yung-suh Park, Minister and Consul-General of Korea, as our distinguished guests.
This year’s partner countries – Korea, Japan and Taiwan – played an important role throughout the event. During the subsequent exhibition tour, our guests had the opportunity to discover the wide range of technologies on display and connect with exhibitors. And, of course, we made sure to capture the moment with a group photo!
22 Technical Sessions, Including Six on Quantum Technologies
From established optical technologies to the latest developments in quantum technologies, our programme had plenty to offer. Across 22 technical sessions, including six dedicated to quantum technologies, participants shared insights, presented their work and explored new possibilities together.
The diversity of our community was also reflected in the numbers: 70 companies, 17 startups, 27 universities and 19 research institutes were represented at the event.
A Fully Booked Exhibition, New Connections and Over 80 Meetings
Our exhibition area was buzzing with activity! 38 exhibitors from across Germany, as well as from Japan and the Czech Republic, presented their technologies and innovations. The exhibition was fully booked – a great sign of the strong interest in Photonics Days.
For those looking to establish new business contacts, B2Match provided the perfect opportunity to arrange individual meetings. More than 80 one-to-one meetings took place during the event. Our job board also featured over 50 job opportunities, highlighting the exciting career prospects available in the photonics sector.
Photonics Up Close: Our Industry and Research Tours
Of course, we wanted to offer more than talks and networking. Our tours gave international guests the opportunity to visit exciting companies and research institutes in the Berlin-Brandenburg region and experience their work firsthand.
The programme included visits to IKZ, FBH and MBI, as well as Askania and the Paul Drude Institute for Solid State Electronics. These tours offered fascinating insights into the work being done on site and plenty of opportunities to connect beyond the conference programme.
First BarBQ, Then Photonics Days!
Our BarBQ networking event was the perfect way to kick things off. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants could meet before the official programme began, catch up with familiar faces and make their first new connections.
And that spirit continued throughout the two days: lots of familiar faces and just as many new ones! Because alongside all the technical highlights, it’s the people and conversations that make our community so special.
Thank You for Being Part of It!
More than 500 participants, 23 countries, 38 exhibitors, 22 technical sessions and over 80 individual meetings – behind these numbers are countless conversations, fresh ideas and, hopefully, many collaborations that will continue to grow long after Photonics Days.
A huge thank you to all participants, exhibitors, speakers, partners and supporters who made these two days possible. Thank you for your openness, your inspiring contributions and all the great connections!
We’re already looking forward to seeing the photonics community again. Until then: Keep in touch and keep shining!
