From October 5th to 6th, this year's Photonics Days Berlin Brandenburg 2022 took place as a purely face-to-face event in Berlin Adlershof. It was an exciting 2 days event with 7 full days and two half days sessions with over 100 national and international speakers and accompanying exhibition with exhibitors from Berlin Brandenburg, the rest of Germany and our international partners from Poland, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan.
We welcomed almost 300 participants to the Photonics Days. Including numerous international guests. In addition to the sessions, an exhibition and various networking opportunities, two guided tours were offered as part of the Photonics Days.
Our member Fraunhofer IZM opened its doors and laboratories to our international participants on October 4th. Fraunhofer IZM is one of the world's leading institutes for applied research and the development and system integration of robust and reliable electronics. The participants got an overview of the institute, an exciting lecture on the topic of Packaging for Photonic System Integration and a LabTour.
On October 7th, two other OpTecBB members: WISTA and Berlin Partner invited to a TECH PARK BERLIN-ADLERSHOF TOUR.
In addition to the tour of the Adlershof campus, there was the opportunity to visit one of the following research institutions:
Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth | Max Born Institute | Helmholtz Center Berlin for Materials and Energy GmbH/ BESSY II | Ferdinand Braun Institute (FBH).
On October 5, more than 150 optics and photonics enthusiasts met at the WISTA evening reception in the Bunsen Hall to exchange ideas over wine and live music. As a small highlight of the evening, the Laserverbund presented an award for outstanding achievements to Dr. Gerald Bolz (Mercedes Benz plant in Berlin Mariendorf).
At the start of the event, we had the great honor of welcoming the Japanese ambassador, Mr. YANAGI Hidenao, and his team to the Photonics Days and accompanying them through the exhibition.
There was a wonderful atmosphere and it is a pleasure to see that despite the corona break in recent years, the Photonics Days have not lost their appeal for the photonic community. There were many exciting encounters and a lively exchange.
We, the OpTecBB team, would like to thank our partners and sponsors:
WISTA Management GmbH | Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH | FISBA | EPIGAP Optronic GmbH | Physik Instrumente (PI) GmbH & Co KG,
who supported us in the planning, organization and implementation.
Our big thanks go to the chairs and the speakers, who managed to present a large number of exciting topics from various areas of optics, photonics and quantum technologies.
We look forward to the Photonics Days 2023 (Save-The-Date: Autumn 2023) and hope to welcome you as a participant, speaker or exhibitor.
Topics this year were:
Berlin Laser Tech Symposium | Glas & Co. – Materials for Optical System | Semiconductors and Heterointegration | Making Waveguides on System Level | BioPhotonics & Opthalmology | Berlin Quantum Optics Symposium | Optical Metrology | Novel Applications of Modern Lighting Technologies | Smart Photonic Technologies and Networks for Smart Cities

After an all online event last year, due to corona, the Photonics Days were back this year in Berlin-Adlershof!
From October 4th to 7th, this year's Photonics Days Berlin Brandenburg 2021 took place as a hybrid event. It was an exciting 4 days with 26 sessions, 18 of them on-site in hybrid format, over 100 speakers from over 15 countries and an accompanying exhibition with Germany and EU-wide exhibitors.
Over 540 participants had registered for the event, including over 250 for the face-to-face sessions on site. Despite the strict Corona requirements, many national and international speakers and participants took part in the face-to-face event.
On October 6th, many optics and photonics enthusiasts met for the evening reception in the Bunsen Hall for networking over wine and live music. As a small highlight of the evening, the Laserassociation Berlin Brandenburg presented an award for outstanding achievements in the field of laser technology to Mr. Igor Haschke (represented that evening by Tom Lueders) (B.I.G. Holding).
It was a wonderful atmosphere and a great feeling to see old friends and meet new ones. There were many exciting encounters and a lively exchange both online and on-site.
