The Laser Technology focus area is developed in close cooperation with the Laserverbund Berlin Brandenburg (LVBB) e.V.

In recent years, the laser has increasingly established itself as a universal tool, with applications in material processing, medicine, communications, and measurement technology. As a cross-cutting technology and driver of innovation, laser technology benefits not only photonics but also numerous other industries.

Within the Optics Cluster Berlin-Brandenburg, laser technology—due to its broad range of applications in science and industry—is one of the most important focus areas. A key factor for success is the strong research landscape closely linked to local industry. Over the past years, numerous network structures have been established in the capital region, providing companies and research institutions with access to essential resources such as knowledge and capital, both locally and internationally. In addition, many companies are niche market leaders, representing another strength of the industrial location.
