Optec Berlin-Brandenburg (OpTecBB) e.V. is the competence network for optical technologies and microsystems engineering in the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg. OpTecBB e.V. is an initiative of companies and research institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg committed to exploring and applying these technologies collaboratively. Founded on September 14, 2000, by companies, research institutions, universities, and associations—with support from the Brandenburg state ministries and the Berlin Senate—OpTecBB today counts around 130 institutional members. OpTecBB is active in the fields of photonics and quantum technologies for communication and sensing, optical analytics, lighting technology, biophotonics and ophthalmic optics, laser technology, and microsystems engineering. The association also supports initiatives in workforce development, foreign trade promotion / trade fairs / internationalization, start-ups, location marketing, public relations, and policy consulting. Together with its partners BerlinPartner and WFBB, OpTecBB plays a key role in cluster management for the Optics Cluster in Berlin and Brandenburg.
